On November 5, 2015 a new safer sleeping initiative opened its door at East End United Methodist Church to young adult homeless population of Nashville. Staffed with the community volunteers and funded by individuals who believe in the cause, Launch Pad is a much needed resource for marginalized homeless youth, especially to those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender.
Volunteering for Launchpad is easy. If you are interested contact Glen Biggs (email@example.com) He will be happy to discuss how you can contribute. This does not necessarily mean spending the night. There are many ways to contribute . The training that you will need is provided by LaunchPad staff before you begin onsite hosting. Only one of the shifts require an overnight stay. You may want to volunteer for an evening shift or a early morning shift. It’s fun and does not require a lot of preparation. Most of the organizational work has been competed by LaunchPad.
