MUSIC AT EAST END
Music is a vital part of the soul of East End UMC. There are a variety of ways our church continues to be blessed by beautiful music inside and outside of worship along with a variety of ways for people to be involved in our music program.
The Sanctuary Choir rehearses Sunday evenings from 6:00 – 7:30. This group of singers enjoys making music and serving as the worship choir for the 10:00 AM service. This accomplished group has grown in number and musicianship to become a vital voice in all worship settings.
Do you play an instrument? Come and join our orchestra! The orchestra generally rehearses and performs once a month during worship and at other special events.
Our Acoustic Group brings some down-home feeling to our worship services once a month. If you play guitar, bass, fiddle, or other acoustic stringed instrument, or just want to sing along, contact Joe Lee.
In 2017, we were gifted with a two-octave handbell set from West Nashville United Methodist Church. Shortly afterwards, through a generous gift from the estate of Laura Jean Greenwaldt, we were able to purchase a third octave. The Holly Street Ringers have since played for several worship services. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:45. If you are interested in ringing along, contact Joe Lee.
At certain times of the year, the Music Ministry of East End will present a special musical offering. During the past year, we have led worship with the Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo, and the Brahms Requiem for the Good Friday service.
